These coconut trees were donated to Da Nang by various organisations and businesses as part of the city’s leadership’s initiative, calling on local agencies, organisations, businesses, and residents to contribute coconut trees to be planted at Da Nang’s beaches.
After one month of implementation, the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beach Tourism Management Board has received nearly 700 coconut trees out of a planned 3,497 trees to be planted at the beaches, with support from over 40 organisations, agencies, businesses, and individuals living and working in Da Nang.
“Each coconut tree is not only a symbol of the people of Da Nang’s love for nature but also carries great significance in reducing the impacts of climate change and limiting coastal erosion and shoreline collapse. We are committed to ensuring the maintenance and care of these trees after they are planted, ensuring their healthy growth to create a green, sustainable beach landscape that meets the city’s expectations,” said Nguyen Duc Vu, head of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Beach Tourism Management Board.
Coconut trees will be planted along two coastal routes: the Hoang Sa-Vo Nguyen Giap-Hoang Sa and Nguyen Tat Thanh route, with planting to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
Currently, the first planting phase, with more than 300 coconut trees, is being carried out at the Man Thai Beach area, Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District.
