This is the first and largest annual event held jointly by VietNam Design Group, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS), the Copyright Office of Vietnam (COV) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Hanoi Municipal Department of Culture and Sports, to find and honour outstanding products and designers of Vietnam.

The programme will feature a series of activities such as the Designed by Vietnam contest, Design of the Year award and Design Fair Vietnam. The activities strive to nurture and promote the development of the design industry in particular and Vietnam's cultural and creative industry in general, while improving the values of Vietnamese creative products in the domestic market, as well as the international market.

The fourth Designed by Vietnam contest, themed “Embracing Constraints” was launched at the end of April. To date, the contest has received 150 entries. The jury selected 31 designs for the exhibition and the finals, including 10 designs for a public toilet by Hoan Kiem Lake.

Notably, the Design of the Year Award 2023 is held for the first time within the framework of Vietnam Design Week, to honour the best product designs in Vietnam.

In addition, the Design Fair Vietnam attracts nearly 50 domestic and international design and production units, with more than 100 booths in different fields, including furniture and exterior, furniture and decoration, handicrafts, fashion and media.

Le Viet Ha, Chairman of VietNam Design Group and co-head of the organising committee, said Vietnam Design Week has gradually become an effective platform to connect the contemporary design community with the traditional craft villages across the country.
