The export came under a contract signed after more than four months of negotiation with the US side.

The company also worked with local farming cooperatives to provide seedlings and fertilisers and ensure that all their products will be purchased.

According to Hoa Binh Vice Chairman Dinh Cong Su, the province’s soil and climate are suitable for producing soft and sweet sugarcane that can be eaten raw or pressed for juice.

The export of the first batch of sugarcane to the US has laid the foundation for the province to continue expanding the markets for agricultural produce in the future.

In recent years, Tien Ngan Company has exported nearly 100 tonnes of sugarcane to the EU and the Republic of Korea. In 2023, the company is expected to export 300-500 tonnes of sugarcane to foreign markets.
