Flexible recruitment to address labour shortages

To meet production and business demands, numerous enterprises in Da Nang are actively recruiting workers. With labour demand exceeding supply, the Da Nang Employment Service Centre and businesses have adopted flexible recruitment strategies and enhanced welfare policies to attract workers.

Over 10,000 job vacancies

In the first months of the year, with the garment, electronics, and seafood processing industries flourishing, many businesses have ramped up recruitment efforts. In early March, Scavi Hue’s Da Nang branch announced job openings for 400 garment workers, as well as quality control and management staff.

Similarly, Kad Industrial S.A Vietnam is hiring over 410 workers for various positions, including garment workers, boiler operators, machine repair technicians, production statisticians, garment industry managers, and materials warehouse staff.

Morito Da Nang is looking for 100 sewing workers, 10 ironing workers, 10 quality control staff, and 10 general labourers. P.M.A Corporation is recruiting more than 430 employees, including sewing workers, sewing technicians, import-export staff, order and technology process supervisors, and quality control personnel.

Nguyen Thanh Diep, a representative of the Da Nang Employment Service Centre, stated that during the routine job fair held at the end of February, the centre received recruitment requests from 116 businesses in Da Nang and nearby areas, totalling 10,741 job openings.

Key industries with high labour demand include garment manufacturing, electronic component production, seafood processing, and woodworking. Employers are hiring workers across all education levels, from university and college graduates to vocational and unskilled labourers, ensuring that everyone can find a suitable job.

Diep added that in response to increasing recruitment needs, the centre continues to organise weekly job fairs every Friday at three locations: 278 Au Co (Lien Chieu District), 21 Phan Chau Trinh (Hai Chau District), and 657 Truong Chinh (Cam Le District).

Additionally, the centre frequently collaborates with employment service centres in neighbouring provinces such as Quang Nam, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, and Ha Tinh to conduct online job exchanges, thus improving connectivity between employers and job seekers.

Enhanced benefits to attract workers

Since the Lunar New Year, Pi Vina Da Nang has been continuously posting job openings but has not achieved the desired recruitment results. The company is currently seeking to hire 100 sewing workers, 20 auxiliary workers for marking and thread cutting, and 5 quality control staff. To attract workers, in addition to standard policies, the company has introduced a sewing worker referral bonus. Starting from March 24, employees who refer new sewing workers will receive a bonus of 1.5 million VND, while newly hired sewing workers will also receive the same amount.

Additionally, Pi Vina Da Nang has implemented benefits for returning workers, including maintaining their previous base salary, attendance bonus, and performance rating or even upgrading their evaluation. Returning workers also receive a gift worth 150,000 VND upon rejoining the company.

Meanwhile, Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading JSC is currently recruiting 500 full-time and seasonal workers for shrimp processing. Due to a limited labour supply within Da Nang, the company has expanded its recruitment efforts to rural areas, including communes in Hoa Vang District and nearby areas such as Dien Ban Town and the districts of Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen, Que Son, and Thang Binh in Quang Nam Province.

According to Nguyen Tuan Linh, Head of Administrative and Organisational Affairs at Thuan Phuoc, many rural workers prefer short-term seasonal jobs, so the company has adopted a suitable hiring model. To support workers, the company provides daily transportation, prioritising carpooling for employees from the same villages to encourage participation.

“This recruitment strategy has been in place for nearly two years and has helped address labour shortages while ensuring smooth production and business operations during peak seasons,” Linh said.

To improve labour market connectivity, the Da Nang Employment Service Centre is collaborating with the Thanh Khe District People’s Committee to launch a job-matching programme. This initiative provides career counselling, vocational training guidance, loan support, and information on overseas employment opportunities to residents across 24 community clusters in six wards.

The programme primarily targets workers from low-income households, near-poverty households, and recently improved-income households. It also supports individuals facing economic difficulties and those with average living standards. Additionally, young people who have completed military service or those seeking jobs, vocational training, loans, or overseas employment opportunities are encouraged to participate. The centre also offers job search assistance, interview coaching, and employment counselling to hundreds of job seekers.

In 2025, the Da Nang Employment Service Centre plans to organise 48 job fairs, including 21 regular fairs, 24 online job exchanges with Central and Central Highlands provinces, and three on-site job fairs at district-level locations and universities/colleges. These initiatives aim to bring employment services closer to job seekers, final-year students, and local workers, thus contributing to the city’s “Employment for all” programme.
