The information was released by the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), a member of the Viet Nam National Industry–Energy Group (Petrovietnam), on March 11.

This is PV GAS’s first imported LNG shipment in 2026, aimed at proactively ensuring energy supply for the national power system, particularly as the global energy market is experiencing significant fluctuations.

The LNG cargo was loaded on February 26. Notably, the vessel departed the Middle East and passed through the Strait of Hormuz before military tensions escalated in Iran. After days at sea, it arrived safely at Thi Vai Port.

The LNG will be regasified at the Thi Vai LNG terminal to supply power plants, contributing to securing fuel for the national electricity system as energy demand continues to rise. The shipment is also seen as a positive signal for Petrovietnam’s LNG import activities in 2026, at a time when the global energy market is facing multiple challenges.
