According to Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, the meeting is a continuation of the success of the Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference between five provinces and cities, including Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) at the end of November 2024.

The event is also an opportunity for both sides to learn and discuss opportunities for cooperation and development in the present and the future, especially as the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong high-speed railway connecting Vietnam with Hekou County and other Chinese localities is being actively implemented. This route is expected to be put into operation in the near future.

Over the past years, the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and China has continuously developed strongly and comprehensively, and has been increasingly promoted, opening up diverse and extensive cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Yunnan Province plays an important role as a bridge to help increase the exchange of goods, expand trade routes, create cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises, and promote economic development in the border area.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues of mutual interest such as: experience, organisational and management models, preferential policies, business support, and goods circulation when organising the Yunnan Pilot Free Trade Zone (China); and the potentials, strengths, investment attraction policies, and development orientation of Hai Phong City.

Both localities play an important role as the starting and ending points of the route.

The meeting is a good opportunity for both sides to exchange, learn, discuss, and work towards strong cooperation and development in the future.

For Hai Phong City, China has become an important strategic partner in many fields such as environment, education, health, and agriculture.

In terms of economic cooperation, China is currently ranked second among 42 countries and territories with investment capital in Hai Phong.

Hai Phong City is always in the top group of the country in attracting FDI investment, averaging about 3.5 billion USD per year and is an ideal destination for many large corporations such as Flat, Tongwei, TP Link, Sanhua, and Autel.
