Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, reviewed the glorious history of the Hon Khoai Uprising 85 years ago.

Despite being brutally suppressed by the enemy and 10 soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives, the spirit of “Rather sacrifice than live as slaves” became an immortal heroic epic. Since then, December 13 every year has become the glorious Revolutionary Traditional Day of the Party Committee, armed forces, and people of Ca Mau.

The Hon Khoai Island cluster today is not only a historical relic but also “the nation’s strategic position on the ocean.”

Not only is it a time for reviewing history, the ceremony is also an opportunity to affirm the new position of Ca Mau. From a land in difficulty, Ca Mau has now become a new growth pole, a gateway to the sea of the region. The province is mobilising all resources for strategic infrastructure such as Can Tho-Ca Mau Expressway, Ca Mau-Dat Mui Expressway, and especially Hon Khoai General Seaport and the bridge connecting to Hon Khoai Island.
