The ceremony took place at two locations — Phan Ngoc Hien Square (An Xuyen Ward) and Hung Vuong Square (Bac Lieu Ward) in Ca Mau Province — and was broadcast live on Ca Mau Newspaper and Television, and Ninh Binh Newspaper and Television.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, reviewed the glorious history of 85 years ago. The Hon Khoai Uprising on the night of December 13, 1940, led by comrade Phan Ngoc Hien, was a brilliant milestone marking the remarkable maturity of the provincial Party Committee.
Despite being brutally suppressed by the enemy and 10 soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives, the spirit of “Rather sacrifice than live as slaves” became an immortal heroic epic. Since then, December 13 every year has become the glorious Revolutionary Traditional Day of the Party Committee, armed forces, and people of Ca Mau.
Not only is it a time for reviewing history, the ceremony is also an opportunity to affirm the new position of Ca Mau. From a land in difficulty, Ca Mau has now become a new growth pole, a gateway to the sea of the region. The province is mobilising all resources for strategic infrastructure such as Can Tho-Ca Mau Expressway, Ca Mau-Dat Mui Expressway, and especially Hon Khoai General Seaport and the bridge connecting to Hon Khoai Island.
Emphasising the strategic vision, Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed: If 85 years ago Hon Khoai was a torch lighting the path of the revolution, today Hon Khoai takes on a new mission to establish “the nation’s strategic position on the sea”, opening the path to the future for the country, as entrusted by General Secretary To Lam.
In the warm atmosphere of solidarity, Vice Chairman Lam Van Bi welcomed the 65th anniversary of the Ca Mau–Ninh Binh twinning relations. The steadfast bond of “the north calls, the south answers”, fostered through the resistance wars, continues to flourish through cooperation in economics, culture, and tourism, creating momentum for both localities to develop together.
Entering a new era — a period of national rise — the Party Committee and people of Ca Mau commit to further innovation in thinking, awakening the spirit of “daring to think and daring to act”, and striving to develop the province in a comprehensive manner, worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations.
