This is the statement of Vanxay Tavinyan, Vice Chairman of the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training and Editor-in-chief of Pasaxon Newspaper, in an interview with Nhan Dan Newspaper on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the LPRP (March 22, 1955 - March 22, 2025).

To fight against an enemy that is stronger in many aspects, the Indochinese Communist Party has proposed strategies and tactics suitable to the new situation.

Accordingly, the Indochinese Communist Party issued a Resolution on the establishment of a Party in each country to lead the revolution to victory. On March 22, 1955, the Lao People's Party (now the Lao People's Revolutionary Party) was officially established.

Since its establishment, the LPRP has gone through countless difficulties and challenges in the history of the struggle to save the country and fight against French colonialism for decades with correct and creative political and military lines.

The LPRP carried out a scientific revolution and revolutionary war, mobilising the strength of the entire people and army, combined with the strength of the three-country alliance Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia, along with the strength of the times to lead the revolution to victory after victory, leading the Lao people to expel the invaders, abolish the feudal regime, completely liberate the country, and establish the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975.

This is a milestone of profound historical and epochal significance, opening a new era in Laos, an era of independence and freedom, in which the Lao people truly master their destiny.

The LPRP became the ruling party, the core of the political system of the people's democracy regime, and led the Lao people into a new phase, of defending and building the country, gradually successfully implementing the renovation process, perfecting the people's democracy regime, and advancing towards the goal of socialism.

Over the years, the LPRP has been creative in planning and perfecting political guidelines and has proposed a comprehensive renovation policy, helping the LPRP to have a right start, the country's socio-economic development situation has changed rapidly, and the socialist market economy has emerged, promoting the people's self-sufficient production to commodity production, helping to increase income and help people escape poverty.

From a country that mainly imports goods from abroad, Laos has become an agricultural exporter; infrastructure has been upgraded, especially the rebuilt traffic routes, making travel more convenient; education, health care and culture have been continuously expanded, attracting millions of foreign tourists to Laos every year.

Assessing the achievements of the LPRP over the past 70 years, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam said that under the wise leadership of the LPRP, Laos has achieved great and historic victories in the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.

After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy initiated and led by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (since 1986), the Lao people have continued to achieve great and comprehensive achievements of historical significance, with political stability and social order and security ensured.

The economy has grown, and people's lives have been constantly improved, with per capita income increasing from 114 USD in 1985 to 1,896 USD in 2024. National defence and security have been maintained and foreign relations expanded, successfully assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024 and many other related summits, contributing to enhancing the role and position of the LPRP and the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the region and the international arena.

Commenting on the good traditional relationship between the two Parties, two States, and the people of Laos and Vietnam, Vanxay Tavinyan affirmed that no one can deny the achievements of the fighting alliance of the Lao and Vietnamese armies and peoples in the heroic struggle against the common enemy to liberate each country.

The Laos-Vietnam fighting alliance helped the revolutionary movement in Laos to mature and develop widely, becoming the condition for the establishment of the Lao People's Party on March 22, 1955, with President Kaysone Phomvihane as the leader of the Lao revolution.

From the good traditional relationship, as good neighbours, the people of Laos and Vietnam often exchange. Vietnam has provided valuable, timely and effective assistance to Laos, consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, which has been strongly and continuously developed.

Vanxay Tavinyan emphasised that the Lao Party, Government and people always remember the great contributions of the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, the leaders who laid the foundation and were shining examples in cultivating and consolidating the great friendship, while constantly promoting the tradition of good solidarity and mutual trust in the spirit of proletarian internationalism, for the benefit of the people of Laos and Vietnam.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respect, remember and are deeply grateful for the strong support, great, valuable, wholehearted and effective assistance that the Lao Party, State and people have given to the Party, State and people of Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in the cause of renovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland today.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam vow to do their utmost together with the Lao Party, State and people to preserve and constantly foster the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to increasingly develop to new heights, forever green, forever sustainable.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam expressed his belief that with the steadfastness in the goal and ideal of national independence, steadfastness in Marxism-Leninism, Kaysone Phomvihane thought and fine traditions along with valuable and practical lessons learned during 70 years of construction and development in the past career of leading and directing the struggle for national independence and the current cause of protecting and building the country, the LPRP will certainly complete the cause of building and firmly developing the people's democracy, continue to lead and lead Laos steadily forward on the path of socialism, a rich people, a strong country, a united, unified, democratic, equitable and civilized society.
