Indonesia quickly overcame difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, gradually recovered its economy and society. Indonesia continues to grow prosperously, and gain an increasingly high position in the international arena, aiming to become a developed country by the occasion of its 100th founding anniversary (1945 - 2045).

At the talks, the two sides discussed positive results in the bilateral cooperation in recent years, as well as the orientations to promote parliamentary cooperation in the coming time.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations and meetings at all levels and through all exchange channels, while providing best conditions for businesses of the two countries to diversify their investment and business cooperation areas. They will share experience in law building and create a legal corridor for the bilateral collaboration in fields of global scale, especially just energy transition and safe digital transformation.

They will also work together to build a coordination mechanism, and sound policies to promote the development of new and strategic supply chains, bringing the potential and strengths of both countries into full play.

On behalf of the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese NA, NA Chair Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the thorough preparation of Indonesia to perform the role of AIPA Chair 2023, and agreed with the 44th AIPA General Assembly’s theme of ‘Responsive Parliaments for A Stable and Prosperous ASEAN’.

The Vietnamese top legislator emphasised that Vietnam and Indonesia have huge potential for cooperation, which is strongly promoted by the abundant internal resources of each country, as well as the fourth science and technology revolution of a strong and united ASEAN Community.

Sharing their thoughts about NA Chair Vuong Dinh Hue’s statement that the people are the root of all of development policies. Indonesian scholars stated that this is completely true because in most countries, both the government as the executive body and the parliament as the legislative body are elected by the people. Therefore, the people must be at the core of all actions of the government and parliament. And works taken by the government and the parliament must ensure that all of their decisions are in the interest of the people, they said.

They also highly appreciated Vietnam's goal of building a society of wealthy people, a strong country, democracy, justice, and civilisation, in which the people must be entitled to enjoy all the fruits of the development.
