Incheon 2014: Female boxers win bronze medals for Vietnam

Nhan Dan/VNA - Vietnamese female boxers have secured two bronze medals on the 10th day of the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Vietnam’s Le Thi Bang came third after losing 0-3 to Indian rival, Hmangte Chungneijang Mery Kom in the women’s flyweight (48-51kg) semi-final.

Meanwhile, in the women’s light (57-60kg) semi-final, Luu Thi Duyen came third, losing to China’s Jin Junhua.

In taekwondo, Vietnamese athletes had an unsuccessful start when both Nguyen Trong Cuong and Duong Thanh Tam were defeated by their competitors from the RoK and Iran, respectively.

Nguyen Thanh Thao also failed to secure herself a place in the semi-finals, after losing to Taiwan’s Huang Un Wen 5-13.

So far, the Vietnamese delegation has won a total of 32 medals, including 1 gold, 9 silver and 22 bronze.
