Innovation Day seeks to boost digital transformation among Vietnamese SMEs

The Open Innovation Day – TechTraverse 2023 kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on July 20, gathering more than 100 leading experts from international organisations and research institutes, as well as leaders of corporations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and start-up businesses at home and abroad.

The event, which is the first open innovation event to be held in Vietnam, was co-hosted by the Open Innovation and Technopreneur Institute (OITI), Zestif, S-World Media, and the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation Development (NATEC), under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the event, NATEC Director Pham Hong Quat, said that in the Industry 4.0 era, when the globe becomes flatter, each country has its creative methods to bring the concept of open innovation to life.

He cited IBM’s report revealing that 84% of senior managers place the great important role of open innovation in their strategies for further development, in the future. Open innovation is also a way to unlock the inner potential of each business.

Open Innovation Day-TechTraverse 2023 aims to raise awareness of open innovation and digital transformation among Vietnamese SMEs and startups while encouraging further collaboration between businesses, he stated.

It also served as a platform for participants to share models and practical lessons on open innovation, and discuss the challenges facing them in implementing the digital transformation process.
