The programme entertained the audience with songs and dances praising the unique culture of 20 ethnic groups in Lai Chau province as well as the tourism potential and advantages of the north-western locality.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tong Thanh Hai said that 2022 is the time for Lai Chau tourism to develop in the new normal state and look towards breakthroughs to establish its tourism brand in Vietnam’s tourist map.
The Culture - Tourism Week aims to advertise the land, culture and people of Lai Chau, thus contributing to turning tourism into a key economic sector that facilitates the socio-economic development of the province.
A street parade was held following the opening ceremony, gathering more than 500 performers from different ethnic groups across the province.
The Lai Chau Culture - Tourism Week 2022 will take place until April 17 with assorted activities, including a paragliding tournament, a Then folk singing festival, a fair displaying macadamia and agricultural products, and an exhibition on the cultural identities of ethnic communities throughout the locality.
