It is also equipped with state-of-the-art electronic logistics technology, including an automated sorting matrix system that processes shipments in just 3-5 minutes, a multi-tier sorting system that ensures 99% accuracy for small package classification, and a Crossbelt feeding system capable of handling up to 99,000 small parcels per hour.
J&T Express Brand Director Phan Binh stated that the launch of the new transit center not only enhances the parcel delivery experience but also expands new services, such as same-day delivery and on-demand shipping.
The rapid growth of e-commerce, as well as trade and import-export activities in recent times, has had a strong impact, driving the logistics industry forward. According to Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the city is one of the two leading localities in Vietnam in terms of the e-commerce index. Currently, 52% of Hanoi’s population participates in online shopping, while the adoption of e-commerce among businesses has reached 47%. Therefore, the city has been focusing on investment in the development of commercial infrastructure, information technology infrastructure, logistics, payment systems, and human resources.
In 2024, the Hanoi Municipal Department of Industry and Trade collaborated with districts, towns, and enterprises investing in logistics within the city to review the progress of ongoing projects. At the same time, it provided feedback and proposed research on the planning scope of integrated logistics centres in Tran Phu and Yen So Wards (Hoang Mai District) and Trung Chau and Hong Ha Communes (Dan Phuong District). Additionally, the department, in cooperation with the Hanoi Logistics Association, organised training courses on legal regulations regarding origin and rules of origin determination, as well as discussions on the second draft of the Vietnam Logistics Service Development Strategy.
Nguyen Manh Quyen, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, has recently signed and issued Plan No. 399/KH-UBND for the development of logistics services in 2025. This plan aims to drive growth, increase the contribution of logistics services to the city's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), enhance outsourcing rates, and reduce logistics costs to improve product price competitiveness. It also seeks to promote the development of manufacturing, traditional trade, import-export activities, and e-commerce. Hanoi will develop a synchronised logistics infrastructure that aligns with transportation and modern commercial-service infrastructure. This effort is intended to meet the demands of import-export, transit, and domestic goods circulation, positioning Hanoi as a key logistics hub for the region and the entire country.
Nguyen The Hiep stated that in 2025, the department will continue to review, accelerate progress, and address challenges in launching logistics infrastructure projects that have received investment policy approval. It will also promote and attract investment in logistics infrastructure projects following the approved master plan to enhance logistics infrastructure development. At the same time, the department aims to encourage logistics service providers to innovate and adopt advanced solutions, offering third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) services, with a vision toward fifth-party logistics (5PL) and digital logistics. These efforts will be based on the growth of e-commerce and the development of a modern, efficient, and professional supply chain management system.
The Department of Transport will complete and operate the transportation network, focusing on implementing synchronised solutions to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate the smooth and rapid movement of goods. Hanoi’s transportation system will be efficiently integrated across multiple modes, linking road, waterway, railway, and air transport. The department will also review and publicly disclose information regarding the locations, functions, and key services of major transport hubs, including transportation routes, inland waterway ports, railway terminals, logistics centers, and cargo gathering points for different types of transportation.
A representative from the Hanoi Customs Department stated that the unit will accelerate the implementation of the national "single-window" mechanism for all procedures related to the import, export, and transit of goods, as well as the entry, exit, and transit of people and vehicles.
