This annual survey is part of the National Statistical Survey Programme.

The survey covers 63 provinces and centrally governed cities, targeting businesses engaged in production and commercial activities across all sectors except for state agencies, international organisations and household self-supply activities.

Survey subjects include all business establishments operating within a single economic sector at one location. In addition to collecting data on enterprises and cooperatives, the survey aims to support economic management, forecasting, and policymaking at both national and local levels.

The results will contribute to calculating key economic indicators, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for 2024, and other sectoral and national statistical accounts.

The findings will also provide data for the 2025 editions of the White Book on Vietnamese Enterprises and the White Book on Cooperatives.

Data collection will run until June 30, 2025, for provinces with over 5,000 enterprises.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will extend the deadline to July 31, while other localities will conclude by May 31. Surveys for economic groups and state corporations will take place from June 1 to July 15.

According to the 2024 White Book, as of December 31, 2023, Vietnam had nearly 921,400 active enterprises—an increase of 2.8% from the previous year—of which 68.2% were in the services sector.

Ho Chi Minh City led the country with 273,100 enterprises, accounting for 29.6% of the national total.
