Under the decision, the survey will start in 2024 and will be conducted over five years in 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

The survey will also cover cultural tourism resources, including historical and cultural relics, revolutionary sites, archaeological and architectural sites, traditional cultural values, festivals, folk arts, and other cultural values; and human creative works that can be used for tourism purposes.

The survey’s implementation aims to establish a tourism resource database to facilitate the management, planning, and development of tourism products and tourist areas nationwide.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is assigned to develop a master plan to implement the survey and coordinate with local People’s Committees, relevant ministries and sectors in carrying out the survey.

The VNAT is also tasked with compiling training materials and instructions, developing software and tools to support the information collection, and training collectors and investigators for the survey.
