According to digital travel platform Agoda, Viet Nam continues to rank among the top three Asian destinations for the highest rates of repeat visitors. Da Nang has also contributed significantly to this achievement, climbing two places from last year to rank sixth in Asia. The rankings are based on accommodation booking data from Agoda during the first six months of 2026.

Some destinations hold a special appeal that encourages travellers to return, whether to discover new attractions, revisit favourite places, or simply recapture a familiar feeling.

Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Viet Nam, said Viet Nam’s continued presence among Asia’s top three destinations for repeat visitors clearly reflects the diversity and appeal of the country’s tourism offerings.

In the ranking of Asian cities, Tokyo rose to the top spot this year, overtaking Bangkok. Meanwhile, Bali ranked third for the first time, followed by Seoul and Osaka. Da Nang, Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei, and Johor Bahru rounded out the top 10 Asian cities with the highest rates of repeat visitors.

In Viet Nam, the five destinations with the highest rates of repeat visitors in the first half of 2026 were Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Ha Noi, and Phu Quoc Island, respectively.

Viet Nam’s two largest cities also improved their rankings compared with last year, with Ha Noi climbing two places and Ho Chi Minh City moving up one.

Sa Pa recorded another notable advance, rising three places from last year. Its growing appeal was also reflected in Agoda’s activities data, with Sun World Fansipan Legend recorded as the most-booked activity on the platform in Viet Nam during the first six months of 2026.

Meanwhile, Da Nang climbed two places year on year to officially rank among Asia’s top six cities for repeat visitors. The result demonstrates the enduring appeal of the central coastal city, from its beautiful beaches to its convenient location providing easy access to Hoi An Ancient Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Da Nang is also home to Sun World Ba Na Hills, a renowned mountaintop attraction featuring the iconic Golden Bridge, spectacular mountain scenery and a wide range of entertainment experiences. Together, these attractions give travellers compelling reasons to return to Da Nang on subsequent trips to Viet Nam.

“From the vibrant pace of life in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang’s picturesque beaches and Sa Pa’s majestic mountain scenery, each destination gives travellers a new reason to return to Viet Nam. Da Nang’s rise into the top six Asian cities for repeat visitors is an encouraging sign, demonstrating the destination’s enduring appeal,” Vu Ngoc Lam said.
