Based on flight search data, Expedia — one of the world's largest online travel platforms with a strong presence in Europe and North America — compiled its 2026 Island Hot List, spotlighting destinations experiencing the strongest surge in traveller interest, from romantic retreats to tranquil island escapes across Europe and Asia.

Ranked ninth in the list of the 10 most outstanding islands in the world in 2026, Phu Quoc is named as an ideal destination for travellers seeking to enjoy a luxurious vacation at competitive rates.

According to Expedia, with its high-quality resorts, steadily improving services, and competitive pricing, Phu Quoc is swiftly establishing itself as one of Southeast Asia's leading luxury resort destinations.

Expedia's 2026 Island Hot List reflects a growing trend among travellers to explore emerging island destinations beyond traditional favourites. Alongside Phu Quoc, the list showcases Saint Lucia, Porto Santo (Portugal), Praslin (Seychelles), Syros (Greece), Lofoten (Norway), Palawan (the Philippines), Culebra (Puerto Rico), Sanibel (the US) and Fiji.

Phu Quoc is celebrated for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, rich marine ecosystem, and year-round pleasant climate. Beyond its natural beauty, the island affords a rich array of distinctive experiences, including exploring Phu Quoc National Park, visiting traditional craft villages, learning about pearl cultivation, enjoying fresh seafood, relaxing at luxury resorts, and discovering large-scale entertainment complexes.

The island continues to solidify its standing as one of Viet Nam's leading coastal and island resort destinations, underpinned by increasingly convenient transport links with numerous international and domestic flights, a visa exemption policy for international visitors, and a diverse range of accommodation and quality services catering to different travel segments.

According to the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, Phu Quoc has in recent years garnered consistent recognition from international organisations and leading global travel publications for its unspoilt natural landscapes, spectacular beaches, rich biodiversity, world-class resorts, entertainment facilities, and continually improving visitor experience.

Building on recognition from international organisations and awards, Phu Quoc's inclusion in Expedia's 2026 Island Hot List further underscores the island's growing appeal among global travellers.

It also demonstrates the escalating competitiveness of Viet Nam's tourism industry in the coastal resort segment, enhances the country's image as an international destination, and serves to attract visitors seeking high-quality, authentic, and distinctive travel experiences.
