This ranking draws upon accommodation search data on the platform from April to June 2026 for trips taking place in July and August.
Thailand retained its position as the most-searched Asian destination, followed by Indonesia and Japan.
Notably, Viet Nam also ranked among the top three Asian destinations registering the fastest growth in interest from the European market, with a 12% increase, behind India and the Republic of Korea.
For European travellers, July and August are the peak summer travel months, as schools break for the summer holidays and demand for travel surges.
This summer also arrives on the heels of a widespread heatwave that hit many European countries at the beginning of the season, with unusually high temperatures recorded in many areas.
Against this backdrop, Asian destinations boasting long coastlines, islands, and a wide range of travel experiences have become even more attractive.
Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Viet Nam, noted that with more than 3,200 kilometres of coastline stretching from north to south, along with vibrant cities, pristine islands, and destinations rich in cultural value, Viet Nam offers European travellers a compelling range of options for a diverse and fulfilling summer holiday.
In terms of European source markets, Germany led the volume of searches for accommodation in Viet Nam, overtaking France, which topped the rankings during the same period last year.
The United Kingdom retained third place, while the Netherlands rose to fourth, with Russia rounding out the top five source markets.
Viet Nam recorded strong growth in interest from several emerging markets, with accommodation searches from Azerbaijan increasing by 177% year-on-year, followed by Poland at 66%, and Sweden at 55%.
Buoyed by broader exposure for its tourism brand and more relaxed visa policies in 2025, Viet Nam has recorded strong growth in arrivals from Poland and Sweden.
Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City continued to be the two most-searched destinations among European travellers for the second consecutive year.
Nha Trang climbed to third place, replacing Ha Noi in the top three destinations.
