PM Anwar welcomed leaders of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), ASEAN partner countries and organisations, including the Sultan of Brunei; the Presidents of Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Brazil and South Africa; the Prime Ministers of Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam and Canada; the President of the European Council; and the United Nations Secretary-General.
Taking place from October 26 - 28, the 47th ASEAN Summit includes nearly 20 high-level meetings and activities. It is expected that the leaders will sign, approve and acknowledge nearly 80 documents to promote cooperation between ASEAN and its partners in many priority areas, especially in economy and trade. In particular, ASEAN is expected to officially admit Timor Leste as the 11th member of the bloc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led the Vietnamese delegation to the summits, continuing to affirm Viet Nam's active participation and responsible contributions to the overall success of the events, and maintaining solidarity, consensus, strengthening connectivity within ASEAN for peace, stability, cooperation and development in ASEAN and the world.
