Addressing the event, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, highlighted the press’s role as a vital bridge between the Party, the State and the people, describing journalists as key partners in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order.

He said the awards were more than a professional competition, serving instead as a platform for journalists, media organisations and the public to tell authentic stories about the protection of national security, the fight against crime and the efforts of police officers working on the front line. The initiative also aims to promote exemplary individuals, effective community-based security models and positive contributions to the nationwide movement to protect national security.

According to the Deputy Minister, the awards seek not only to honour outstanding journalistic works but also to strengthen public trust in the Party, the State and the People’s Public Security Force, while encouraging wider social participation in safeguarding national security.

Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong, Director of the People’s Public Security Communications Department, said the biennial awards are jointly organised by the Ministry of Public Security and the Viet Nam Journalists Association. Over the years, they have become an important platform linking the police force with government agencies, mass organisations, media outlets and the public.

The 2026–2028 awards are expected to attract broad participation from journalists nationwide and encourage innovative reporting that highlights strategic national policies, honours positive role models within the police force and offers constructive recommendations to improve public security work.

On the occasion, the ministry presented awards and commendations to organisations and individuals for outstanding contributions to communications and public awareness efforts relating to national security and social order.
