Mong Cai border gate welcomes first group of Chinese tourists after pandemic

A group of 38 tourists from many localities in China conducted entry procedures at the Mong Cai International Border Gate in Quang Ninh province on March 15 in order to attend a four-day tour of Mong Cai, Ha Long and Hanoi.

The border gate was officially reopened on January 8, 2023, but only allowed Vietnamese and Chinese citizens to return home after being stuck due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Entry and exit activities were completely resumed on February 21 but only for individual guests.

The Mong Cai International Border Gate had handled entry and exit procedures for 1,236 people by 11 A.M on March 15. It is expected that more than 3,000 people will travel through the border gate by the end of March 15.

The Chinese Government previously decided to put Vietnam on its pilot list to receive tourists in groups from March 15.
