Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, highlighted the long-standing friendship between Viet Nam and Switzerland, emphasising their shared commitment to sustainable and culturally rich tourism experiences. He noted that Swiss travelers are known for their love of nature, environmental awareness, and deep interest in local culture—all qualities that align well with Viet Nam’s tourism strengths.
Viet Nam, as a destination rich in heritage, biodiversity, and hospitality, is increasingly aligning its tourism strategy with global trends favouring sustainable and responsible travel. This opens up promising opportunities for bilateral cooperation in developing green tourism products and expanding markets.
Viet Nam also introduced its new visa policy, allowing Swiss citizens visiting under international travel agencies to enter visa-free for up to 45 days from March 1 to December 31, 2025. Authorities are working toward extending visa exemptions for independent Swiss travelers to meet the growing demand for flexible travel.
The event featured presentations on iconic Vietnamese destinations such as Ha Long Bay, Hoi An Ancient Town, and the Hue Imperial Citadel. Hue’s 2025 National Tourism Year, themed “Ancient Capital, New Opportunity,” was also introduced, highlighting its cultural, culinary, and heritage assets.
Business networking sessions enabled connections between Vietnamese and Swiss tourism companies, paving the way for new partnerships. Guests also enjoyed traditional music, culinary demonstrations including Hue royal cuisine, and hands-on activities like making spring rolls and lotus leaf hats.
In 2024, Viet Nam welcomed over 33,600 Swiss tourists, a significant rise from 28,000 in 2023. The first quarter of 2025 alone saw nearly 12,000 Swiss visitors, up 14% year-on-year.
