Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cong emphasised that the event marked another milestone in ongoing efforts to enhance the heritage experience. Through a seamless fusion of light art and modern technology, hundreds of modern, high-end cruise ships will blend with the spectacular natural scenery to create a dazzling artistic spectacle amid the world-renowned natural wonder.
The event is expected to further establish the “Ha Long Bay by Night” brand, enhance the destination’s appeal, and encourage visitors from around the world to prolong their stays.
The programme featured 72 cruise ships combining light and sound performances with onboard fireworks, forging a vibrant and distinctive festive atmosphere across Ha Long Bay. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the vessels set off in formation from Bai Tho Bridge to Cot 5 Beach before returning, completing a circular route.
The Ha Long Bay cruise ship light show has expanded the ways visitors can experience the World Heritage Site, offering a new tourism product that enriches the range of night-time tourism and entertainment activities on the bay. Residents and visitors can take part in the journey through the heritage site, enjoying local cuisine while watching light and sound performances, and fireworks against the backdrop of the bay at night.
Ha Long Bay is not only a source of national pride recognised by the world, but also an invaluable resource enabling Quang Ninh to further unlock its creative potential and forge distinctive new values. The province has consistently pursued the principle of “conservation for development and development to reinvest in conservation.” Every step in tourism development must respect the area’s ecological carrying capacity while rigorously preserving the heritage site’s identity and exceptional values.
To realise this vision, Quang Ninh is actively expanding its development space and strengthening the Ha Long–Yen Tu–Bai Tu Long value chain in conjunction with its strategy to develop Bai Tu Long Marine Park, while gradually propelling the night-time economy, heritage economy, and cultural industries.
