The programme is part of the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development (ST4SD) project in Vietnam, which is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and is jointly implemented by the Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation — a Swiss association for international cooperation — and the Vietnam’s Centre for Rural Economy Development (CRED) with the aim to develop Vietnam’s hospitality sector in a more sustainable and comprehensive manner.

The training courses of the programme are built with reference to those of EHL Hospitality Business School of Switzerland — the world’s top-ranked university for hospitality management. It targets mid- and senior-level managers and experienced professionals.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass said that the programme aims to share Switzerland’s deep-rooted experience and expertise in hospitality training, supporting the tourism sector in Vietnam to continue thriving in a sustainable and high-quality manner.

The programme will also provide Vietnam's future hospitality leaders and managers with the tools to deliver exceptional service while maintaining a commitment to sustainability, he added.

In the pilot period, from 2023-2027, the project is being carried out in four Vietnamese training institutions, including the National Economics University in Hanoi, IBH Academy in Da Nang, and Van Lang University and Saigon Tourism College in Ho Chi Minh City.
