National Day tourism sees strong visitor numbers in many localities

The five-day National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2 saw many localities record strong growth in tourist arrivals, high room occupancy rates and positive tourism-service revenue. Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Tuyen Quang and Lam Dong emerged as popular destinations, attracting large numbers of visitors with diverse tourism products and a wide range of cultural, recreational and entertainment activities.

On September 2, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City said that during the five-day National Day holiday, the city was estimated to have welcomed more than 850,000 visitors, up 37% compared with the same period in 2025. Total revenue from tourism activities was estimated at 3.326 trillion VND.

The average room occupancy rate across the city reached 65-70%, with the 4-5 star and equivalent segment reaching about 75%. Visitors were concentrated at coastal accommodation establishments and in the city centre, especially in An Hai, Ngu Hanh Son, Hai Chau, Son Tra, Hoi An, Hoi An Dong and Hoi An Tay wards.

From August 29 to September 2, the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang reached 810, up 19% compared with the same period in 2025. The average operating frequency reached 162 flights per day, an increase of about 26 flights per day year on year.

In addition to regular trains, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company increased services with four additional north-south passenger trains, SE23/SE24, and passenger trains on the Ha Noi-Da Nang and Sai Gon-Da Nang routes to meet travel demand, helping increase the number of visitors to Da Nang City.

According to information from online travel platforms Booking.com and Agoda, Da Nang topped the ranking of domestic destinations most searched by Vietnamese travellers during National Day 2026 and ranked third in service bookings on Traveloka during the holiday.

According to a report by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, during the five-day National Day holiday in 2026, international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City were estimated at 62,000, while domestic tourists were estimated at 1.65 million.

Total revenue from tourists during the period was estimated at 4.9 trillion VND. Accordingly, tourist accommodation establishments in the city were estimated to have served about 182,500 staying guests, including around 178,000 domestic visitors and 4,500 international visitors. The average room occupancy rate citywide was expected to reach about 61%.

During the holiday, the city hosted many cultural, artistic, recreational and entertainment activities to serve residents and visitors, creating a joyful and uplifting atmosphere to mark the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, while promoting the city’s diverse tourism spaces.

In the city centre, the system of accommodation establishments and tourism services proactively launched many preferential policies to attract visitors. Shopping centres and supermarkets also introduced a wide range of promotional and stimulus programmes, helping enhance shopping and consumer experiences.

During the five-day holiday, tourist arrivals in Tuyen Quang Province were estimated at 168,000, with revenue reaching more than 443 billion VND. Of these, domestic visitors reached 156,000, up 50% compared with the same period in 2025, while international visitors numbered nearly 12,000.

Several tourist sites and destinations attracted large numbers of visitors. Minh Xuan Ward welcomed nearly 64,000 visitors, including more than 63,000 domestic visitors and 500 international visitors. Dong Van Commune was estimated to have welcomed 6,892 groups with more than 45,000 visitors, including 4,748 domestic groups with nearly 30,000 visitors and 2,144 international groups with nearly 16,000 people.

The average room occupancy rate at accommodation establishments across the province during peak days reached 45-50%. At key tourist destinations such as Dong Van, Lung Cu, Meo Vac, Na Hang, Lam Binh and Tan Trao communes, the rate reached 80%. In Minh Xuan Ward, where lively Mid-Autumn Festival model parade activities took place, room occupancy reached about 90%.

During the National Day holiday, Lam Dong Province welcomed around 680,000 visitors for sightseeing and leisure, with tourism and service revenue exceeding 1.4 trillion VND.

On September 2, according to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong Province, during the holiday, the number of tourists visiting and experiencing services in the locality increased by 15% compared with the same period in 2025. Tourism and service revenue during these days was around 1.41 trillion VND.

Staying guests at hotels and guesthouses in Lam Dong Province were concentrated from August 29 to September 1. The average room occupancy rate reached 65-70%, with 3-5-star hotels reaching 80-85%. At the peak on August 30 and September 1, many establishments reached 100% occupancy.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong Province, tourism activities in the locality during the National Day holiday took place in a vibrant, safe and effective manner. Tourism businesses strictly complied with regulations on price listing and selling at listed prices; no cases of overcharging or pestering visitors causing public concern were recorded.
