On the evening of September 27, in the Maldives, a delegation from Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Quang Tri Province attended the World Travel Awards 2026 ceremony for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean.
At the ceremony, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was honoured in two categories: “Asia’s Leading National Park 2026” and “Viet Nam’s Leading Nature Destination 2026”.
Being honoured at both the Asian and Vietnamese levels helps affirm the appeal and brand of Phong Nha-Ke Bang, a destination noted for its unique karst landscape, magnificent cave system, underground rivers and globally valuable biodiversity.
On the sidelines of the event, Dinh Huy Tri, Deputy Director of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, spoke to the international press, introducing the outstanding values of the World Natural Heritage Site, as well as the tourism potential and distinctive tourism products of Phong Nha-Ke Bang.
“The awards are a great honour, but they also place a greater responsibility on us to conserve nature and preserve the values of the World Natural Heritage Site. Conservation will always be the foundation for Phong Nha-Ke Bang to develop sustainable tourism and continue becoming one of the world’s attractive nature destinations. Through these awards, we hope to bring Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Quang Tri and Viet Nam closer to global travellers,” Dinh Huy Tri said.
On the sidelines of the awards ceremony, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park carried out promotion activities, introducing images, materials and tourism products of Phong Nha-Ke Bang and Quang Tri Province to delegates, businesses and international tourism organisations.
The park’s delegation also met and exchanged views with Graham Cooke, President of World Group and founder of the World Travel Awards; Abdulla Yasir, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation; representatives of the Maldives-Vietnam Trade Association; and many international partners.
The exchanges focused on destination promotion, market connectivity, experience sharing and expanding cooperation opportunities to attract international visitors to Phong Nha-Ke Bang and Quang Tri Province.
