The exhibition features 283 works by 28 members of the Hai Au Women’s Photography Club and runs until October 12 at the second facility of the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Cultural House, No. 2 Nguyen Dong Chi Street, Tan My ward.

Ho Chi Minh City, a more than 300-year-old urban centre, is a place where a vibrant economic flow converges and, more importantly, where invaluable cultural and historical heritage is preserved. Ancient, tranquil pagodas, architectural works that have stood the test of time, and “red addresses” that bear the marks of numerous heroic feats... all are not only witnesses to history, but also places that anchor the soul and shape the identity of generations of city residents.

It is precisely the timeless values and beauty of heritage that have touched the hearts, kindled passion and inspired the Hai Au female artists to devote themselves wholeheartedly and work tirelessly on their creations over many years.

The works on display portray the ancient beauty of pagodas, architectural works and sites bearing historical imprints, while also reflecting the vitality of today’s urban life. Light, colour and the choice of angles enable viewers to approach heritage through emotion. Familiar spaces are revisited through the observation and love for the city of those behind the camera.

Photographer Nguyen Hong Nga, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Photographic Association, said that the theme of historical and cultural relics initially posed many difficulties for the members. However, the women worked together and persevered in creating the works to complete the collection of photographs. Following their previous book, the club is continuing to introduce a new publication, extending its journey of preserving heritage through photography.

According to her, the activity also responds to Politburo Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on the development of Vietnamese culture.
