[In Pictures] Brilliant fireworks light up Ha Noi’s sky on Capital Liberation Day anniversary
On the evening of October 10, fireworks lit up the sky over Ha Noi, creating a highlight in a series of activities marking the 72nd anniversary of Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2026).
Hoan Kiem Lake stood out in the heart of Ha Noi. Brilliant fireworks reflected on the water, blending with the lights from surrounding streets to create a shimmering picture of light in the capital.
At exactly 9pm, fireworks began lighting up the sky at the Hoan Kiem Lake display site.The lake space and the landscape of the Old Quarter formed the highlight of the performance, with 350 pyrotechnic rigs arranged on the water, combined with thousands of high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks.West Lake was also the site with the largest number of high-altitude fireworks in this round, with 1,800 shells, along with 475 low-altitude fireworks.
In addition, residents were able to enjoy a “dance of light” on the water, featuring 200 water fireworks combined with 900 pyrotechnic rigs on West Lake.Brilliant streaks of light shot up from the lake surface, combining with multicoloured fireworks blooming across the sky to create a unique, multi-layered light display.Van Quan Lake served as a fireworks site for residents in south-western Ha Noi. The site combined high-altitude fireworks, low-altitude fireworks and pyrotechnics, making use of the lake space and surrounding landscape.
Images of fireworks captured at Van Quan Lake on the evening of October 10 not only preserved moments of a community event, but also reflected the atmosphere of the Capital Liberation Day celebrations in Ha Dong.The display at Van Quan Lake added colour to activities marking October 10, while giving residents in Ha Dong an opportunity to watch fireworks in their own area.The fireworks programme marking the 72nd anniversary of Capital Liberation Day was held simultaneously at three locations: the area in front of Ha Noi Post Office, the area on Quang Khanh Street adjacent to West Lake, and Van Quan Lake. The displays took place from 9pm to 9.15pm on October 10, 2026.
