On October 15, the Ha Noi Party Committee held the ninth Journalism Awards for Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilised Hanoians at the Viet Nam-Soviet Friendship Labour Cultural Palace in Ha Noi. The ceremony was attended by Tran Duc Thang, Politburo Member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
The Journalism Awards for Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilised Hanoians were organised in accordance with Plan No. 40-KH/TU (dated February 27, 2026), issued by the Standing Board of the Ha Noi Party Committee.
The awards were a practical activity to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Capital Liberation Day, while encouraging journalists to produce high-quality works that provide in-depth coverage of the capital’s cultural life and promote the policies and orientations of the central authorities and the city on cultural development and building elegant and civilised Hanoians.
In 2026, the awards attracted 244 entries from 40 press agencies, including 37 print journalism works, 139 online journalism works, and 68 radio and television works.
According to the organising committee, this year’s entries largely reflected the orientations for cultural development and building elegant and civilised Hanoians, as well as the Ha Noi Party Committee's resolutions and programmes on cultural development and the construction and development of the capital.
Entries for the 2026 awards generally followed the orientations for cultural development and building elegant and civilised Hanoians, along with the Ha Noi Party Committee's resolutions and programmes on cultural development and the construction and development of the capital.
The works covered a wide range of topics, connecting the historical and cultural depth of Thang Long-Ha Noi with issues arising in the capital's development in the new period.
Many works focused on heritage values and cultural identity; standards of behaviour within families, communities, and society; urban planning, architecture, and cultural spaces; traditional craft villages, artisans, and cuisine; the development of cultural industries; and the building of a system of cultural and human values for Ha Noi.
Following preliminary and final judging rounds, the event’s final judging council selected 34 outstanding works for awards, comprising one Special Prize, three A Prizes, five B Prizes, 10 C Prizes, and 15 Consolation Prizes. Two press agencies, namely the Ha Noi Newspaper and Radio-Television Agency and the Viet Nam News Agency, were also jointly recognised as outstanding press agencies.
Over nine editions, the awards have helped strengthen the role of journalism in promoting and spreading cultural values. They have also generated valuable practical experience that can be carried forward and applied to the organisation of the city’s unified journalism awards from 2027.
