This year’s event, the fifth of its kind, saw the largest-ever number of participants, who competed in four different races – 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km.
A special 700m race for kids was organised on the morning of April 5, attracting 2,000 young runners aged between 6 and 10.
The event is among activities held within the National Tourism Year – Hue 2025 framework.
According to Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, the marathon contributes to developing local sports, the economy and tourism.
During the event, tens of thousands of athletes and their relatives will also experience culture, visit historical sites, and participate in shopping activities, thereby contributing to economic development and promoting the image of Hue as an attractive tourist destination.
The event is expected to generate hundreds of billions of VND in revenue from tourism. Hue City earned more than 70 billion VND during last year’s tournament, this figure in 2023 was nearly 55 billion VND.
