The athletes are taking part in two categories: the Kyorugi (combat) events and the Poomsae (performance) disciplines across a range of age groups.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Director of the Sports Authority of Viet Nam, emphasised the significance of the tournaments, particularly as Viet Nam prepares for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33).

He remarked that the event not only celebrates the strength and talent of the region’s top athletes, but also fosters the core values of Taekwondo—discipline, perseverance, respect, and solidarity.

The ceremony featured a dynamic performance by Viet Nam’s Poomsae team, setting the stage for a week of intense and spirited competition.

Running until August 25, the championships are jointly organised by the Viet Nam Taekwondo Federation and the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
