Themed ‘Surviving and Thriving in the Decarbonised World’, the event provides participating businesses the opportunity to join and network with business titans in the steel industry, obtain in-depth knowledge from key experts and discover fresh prospects.
Held from May 13 to 15, the event features a wide range of trade promotion activities and seminars introducing the latest technologies in the steel industry, and making forecasts about the world's demand for steel in the coming time.
According to Nghiem Xuan Da, chairman of the Vietnam Steel Association, the event offers an ideal platform for participants to discuss policies on technologies and innovations as well as challenges and opportunities facing the steel industry towards green development.
The steel industry in Vietnam has experienced a period of rapid growth since 2015, turning the country into the world's 12th largest producer of crude steel, leading ASEAN in both the production and consumption of steel products.
However, it has come at a cost. The industry currently accounts for 7-9% of the country's total carbon emissions. Thus, experts noted that it's high time the industry started modernising and innovating to build towards a more advanced and sustainable model.
