At the ceremony, the Vietnam Students’ Association honoured 357 "5 Good Students" at home and abroad, 57 "5 Good Student Collectives", and awarded the 2024 "January Star" Award to 100 domestic students and 12 Vietnamese students abroad.
Appreciating the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Students Association at all levels over the past 75 years, Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman, acknowledged and warmly congratulated 986 students with outstanding titles at the central level this year, and emphasised that these are all representatives of the aspirations of the youth to rise up, innovate, and integrate in the new era, and are the pride of their families, teachers, friends, and the whole society.
Noting the important role and position of youth in general and students in particular in the three strategic breakthroughs that the country and Party have set out in the new era, NA Vice Chairwoman Thanh shared her hope that the Vietnamese students both at home and abroad will clearly recognise the mission and responsibility to create and build the Fatherland with patriotism, national pride, youthful aspirations, self-reliance and self-confidence.
As a “great friend” of Vietnamese students and youth, the Youth Union and Association at all levels need to continue to strongly innovate, further improve the quality, content and methods of operation to closely connect and support the dreams and aspirations of students at home and abroad through practical movements and actions, she noted.
