This number was a year-on-year increase of 39.5% and achieved the set target.

In December 2024 alone, the country received 1.75 million international tourists, a rise of over 27% over the previous year.

Last year also saw the number of holidaymakers arriving in the country by air reach over 14.8 million, accounting for 84.4% of the total figure; while those coming by road stood at 2.5 million, accounting for 14.2%. International visitors to the nation by sea counted 248,100 arrivals, representing 1.4% of the total.

Asia made up the largest source of tourist markets last year, with 79.6% of the overall. Coming in second was the European market, followed by tourists from America, Australia, and Africa.

Throughout the reviewed period, the Republic of Korea remained as the biggest source of visitors to the country with 4.5 million holidaymakers, followed by China with 3.7 million arrivals.

Taiwan (China) ranked third with 1.29 million arrivals, followed by the United States with 780,000 arrivals, and Japan with 711,464 arrivals.

Revenue from accommodation and food services in the reviewed period is estimated to have reached VND733.9 trillion, an increase of 12.9% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, tourism revenue was estimated to be at VND62.5 trillion, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.

The results of welcoming international visitors in 2024 show a bright picture of Vietnam's tourism industry. In the context of some key markets recovering slowly, the diversification and development of many potential markets have helped our country's tourism industry recover spectacularly.

Over the past year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has focused on innovating the content and methods of promotion and advertising, promoting the public-private partnership mechanism to implement tourism promotion programs abroad.

In addition, the VNAT has promoted communication and promotion activities on digital platforms to Vietnam's target markets, notably including the campaign to promote Vietnam's tourism brand on CNN — a famous global television channel.

These important results provide a driving force for the entire Vietnamese tourism industry to strive to achieve the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors in 2025.
