Nha Trang Impression Submarine Tourist Area — a destination rich in creative imprints

With a distinctive approach based on utilising the natural stream terrain, in combination with stone sculpture and installation art to tell stories of history, culture and people, Nha Trang Impression Submarine Tourist Area is an exciting and attractive new destination on the Khanh Hoa tourism map.

Located in Suoi Dau Commune, about 9km from the city centre along the provincial road connecting to the north-south expressway, the Nha Trang Impression Submarine Tourist Area has officially been welcoming visitors since February 5, 2026.

Built on an area spanning nearly 17 hectares, the entire space of the tourism area was formed mainly using manual methods in a period of over three years, beginning in 2017, under the hands of artisan Trinh Ba Dung and his team.

Nguyen Ngoc Chau, Operations Director of Nha Trang Impression Submarine Tourist Area, said that respecting the natural terrain was a guiding principle during the construction process.

“We wanted to preserve the rustic and authentic beauty of stone and forest, allowing the space itself to create emotions for visitors,” Chau shared.

Based on this orientation, functional zones are arranged along the natural flow of the landscape, including: a streamside area featuring stone installations and sculptures; a spiritual garden; Nha Trang Pedestrian Street; and areas simulating submarines and warships. These zones are connected by walking paths running along the mountainside and streambed, encouraging visitors to move slowly and observe each detail of the scenery.

Visitors may be surprised to learn that stone is used as the central element shaping the aesthetic of the tourism area. Original stone blocks have been preserved, arranged, and combined with sculptural works to create an overall impression that is both rugged and expressive, far different from the polished appearance often seen in many modern tourist complexes.

Particularly impressive is the 1:1 scale model of a submarine placed on the mountainside, recreating the image of a seaport with docked warships and submarines. The presence of a “submarine on the mountain” creates a powerful visual effect while evoking the story of connection between the sea and land in the development history of the south-central coastal region.

Notably, inside the submarine is a restaurant hall with a capacity of around 150 guests, offering a dining experience combined with a display space of models of famous wines in the world. At its centre is Viet Nam’s traditional tube wine, showing the effort to make local culture a core element of the experiential space.

At the tourism area, visitors can also encounter cultural symbols associated with the history of Khanh Hoa Province, recreated through modern sculptural language: from the solemn Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel and the sacred Ponagar Tower to Long Son Pagoda — a familiar Buddhist symbol. Rather than copying original models, the creators have innovated, refined and stylised these symbols to suit the mountainous space and contemporary spirit.

Exploring the site, Nguyen Hien Minh from Nha Trang said that it offers a different rhythm of experience compared with the lively island and beach spaces typically associated with Nha Trang.

According to Minh, the attraction of this site is the sense of closeness to nature. Visitors can stroll, take photographs, watch the sunset over the mountainside, or sit by the stream listening to the sound of flowing water.

Under its Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy, Khanh Hoa Province is striving to diversify tourism products, reduce reliance on beach tourism, and extend visitors’ length of stay.

The official operation of Nha Trang Impression Submarine Tourist Area is considered as a step, which contributes to realising this orientation. It is not only a new destination, but also a suggestion of a different approach to tourism development: respecting nature, emphasising identity, and accepting a slower pace to create depth.
