The HQ1/HQ2 service has been specially designed for a tourism journey of approximately 190km, linking famous historical and cultural sites and scenic attractions along the Hue–Quang Binh route. With a journey time of more than four hours, passengers can enjoy the landscapes of central Viet Nam while gaining access to destinations with rich historical and cultural value.
The route connects destinations associated with the Complex of Hue Monuments, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the Vinh Moc Tunnels, and the gateway area to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park via the Hue, Dong Ha, My Trach, and Tho Loc stations.
Beyond simply serving as points for boarding and alighting, the stations along the route are also intended to become venues for introducing and promoting local culture and OCOP products, providing visitors with additional experiences from the very beginning of their journey.
The train consists of eight carriages with a capacity of more than 300 passengers, designed around the distinctive cultural and heritage themes of Hue and Quang Tri.
Five carriages are equipped with rotating seats that passengers can adjust to face different directions, allowing them to enjoy the scenery along the route. The train also includes a VIP carriage with 24 seats, a community carriage for cultural exchanges and experiences, and an entertainment service carriage.
Notably, the entertainment service carriage is described as a new service model within Viet Nam’s railway system, adding a distinctive feature to rail tourism with the aim to make the journey itself part of the exploration experience.
According to the timetable, train HQ2 departs from Hue Station at 7:15am and arrives at Tho Loc Station at 11:55am. In the opposite direction, train HQ1 leaves Tho Loc Station at 1:15pm and arrives at Hue Station at 5:25pm.
To encourage locals and tourists to experience the new service, during the launch week from August 29 to September 5, 2026, the railway industry will offer a 50% discount on all ticket classes. After the discount, fares will range from 210,000 VND to 380,000 VND per ticket.
From September 6 to December 31, 2026, fares will be discounted by 15%. Passengers purchasing return tickets will receive an additional 10% discount on the return journey. The railway industry will also introduce preferential policies for groups, travel businesses and eligible beneficiaries of social policies.
The launch of the “Journey of Wonders – World Heritage” train service is expected to help create a new tourism product linking central Vietnamese localities, strengthen connections between heritage centres, and expand transport options for visitors.
By combining rail travel with cultural, historical and scenic experiences, the new service is also expected to help promote, preserve, and enhance the value of world heritage sites while contributing to sustainable tourism development in central Viet Nam.
