Nam Dinh proposes to Government socio-economic development contents

On the afternoon of May 10, a delegation of the Government Office led by Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, worked with key leaders of Nam Dinh province on the situation and solutions to promote production, business, public investment, infrastructure construction and import and export.

Speaking at the session, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nam Dinh Province Pham Dinh Nghi, said that in the first 4 months of 2023, the province's socio-economic situation continued to be stable. Some economic indicators have grown quite well, compared to the same period in 2022.

Specifically, Nam Dinh's industrial production index increased by 12%; total retail sales of goods and services increased by 13.8%; total mobilised capital of credit institutions in the area is estimated to increase by 8.5%. However, the value of exports decreased by 11.7% over the same period in 2022, reaching over 750 million USD.

According to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, the disbursement of public investment capital and the implementation of investment and construction projects in the province faced some difficulties, due to problems in site clearance, lack of resources and levelling materials and the capacity of some investors still being limited.

Nam Dinh proposed to the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries and central branches, to authorise the provincial People’s Committee to decide on the policy of infrastructure investment in industrial parks of under 300 hectares, according to the approved authority.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son said, that Nam Dinh needs to overcome difficulties and speed up the progress of key transport projects to create a premise to promote the socio-economic development of the locality and the Red River Delta.

The province needs to continue promoting reform of administrative procedures, especially to improve the investment and business environment to welcome large investors, using high technology; complete the provincial planning; coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related units to remove difficulties and obstacles for the textile and garment industry; accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital.
