National Assembly approves three new Deputy Prime Ministers

The National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Nguyen Hoa Binh, Ho Duc Phoc and Bui Thanh Son as Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 term.

With the majority of delegates in favour, the National Assembly passed Resolutions approving the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers for the 2021-2026 term at the eighth extraordinary session of the 15th NA on the afternoon of August 26.

Specifically, with 432 ‘yes’ votes from participating deputies, accounting for 89.81% of the total number of NA deputies, the NA approved the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 term.

They are Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC); Ho Duc Phoc, member of the PCC, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Finance and Minister of Finance; and Bui Thanh Son, member of the PCC, member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

With the three newly appointed Deputy PMs, the Government leadership currently includes six people, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and five Deputy PMs, namely Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Nguyen Hoa Binh, Bui Thanh Son and Ho Duc Phoc.

The NA also passed the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointment of two Ministers, including Do Duc Duy, member of the PCC and Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; and Nguyen Hai Ninh, member of the PCC and Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, to hold the role of Minister of Justice.
