Out of the participants, 14 clubs are competing in Vietnam's top-tier football league, V.League, while 12 teams participating in the National First Division Football Tournament.
Vietnam’s newest airline, Bamboo Airways, is the main sponsor for this year’s tournament, under a cooperation agreement signed between the airline and the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) in Hanoi on April 4.
The National Cup champions will represent Vietnam to compete in the AFC Cup next year and will be awarded VND1 billion (over US$43,000). Meanwhile, the runners-up and two third-ranked teams will receive VND500 million (over US$21,500) and VND200 million (over US$8,600), respectively.
In addition, the winning teams in the qualifying, the round 1/8 and the quarterfinals will be presented rewards of VND10 million (US$430 million), VND20 million (US$861) and VND30 million (nearly US$1,300), respectively.
The annual National Cup is an attractive playground in the system of national professional football tournaments, receiving great attention from the fans and media nationwide.
