At the meeting, Minh, who is also Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Communication and Education and Chairman of the Vietnamese Journalists Association, told the Russian diplomat that Nhan Dan is one of the most important newspapers in Vietnam’s press system and one of the few Vietnamese newspapers with a Russian-language edition designed to promote information about Vietnam and Russia to the Russia-speaking communities around the world.
He added that Nhan Dan is undertaking strong reform to make the newspaper more appealing to readers, especially young people, with the introduction of new formats such as radio and podcast as well as its presence on popular social media platforms.
Nhan Dan also concentrates on covering the Vietnam-Russia relationship, the lives of Vietnamese people in Russia, and the activities of the two countries’ business communities, said Editor-in-chief Minh.
He expects that the Russian Embassy will provide more support such that Nhan Dan will have more official sources to more accurately communicate information about Russia to Vietnamese readers.
For his part, Ambassador Bezdetko spoke highly of Nhan Dan’s coverage of Russia and affirmed its active role in promoting ties between the two countries.
He affirmed that the Embassy is willing to cooperate with Nhan Dan through sharing information and documents to help provide a full, accurate and unbiased communication about Vietnam-Russia cooperation and friendship.
The diplomat also urged representatives of Russian media agencies present at the meeting, including TASS and Sputnik, to enhance cooperation with Nhan Dan so as to promote the time-honoured and friendly bilateral ties.
