Defeating ROC's Elena Ospova by a set score of 6-5 after a tense shoot-off in the final, the 20-year-old became the first athlete of Tokyo 2020 to win three gold medals. Earlier in the Games, An also took gold in both the women's team and mixed team events.
The win means the Republic of Korea continue their dominance in the women's individual event, winning at nine of the last 10 Olympic Games.
In the bronze medal match, Italy's Lucilla Boari beat USA's Mackenzie Brown on a set score of 7-1. She became the first Italian woman to win a medal in archery at the Olympic Games.

Czech Republic's judoka Lukas Krpalek completed an extraordinary feat in becoming an Olympic champion for the second time but in different weight classes.
Krpalek beat Georgia's Guram Tushishvili, himself a 2018 world champion, in the gold medal match in the +100kg weight class at the Nippon Budokan at Tokyo 2020 on Friday. At Rio 2016, Krpalek was crowned the champion in the -100kg category.
World No. 1 Tamerlan Bashaev didn’t make it to the gold-medal match, beaten by Georgia’s Guram Tushishvili. However, the ROC judoka matched came away with a bronze medal, winning against world No. 11, Ukraine’s Yakiv Khammo.
Canoe: Czech Republic’s Jiri Prskavec wins gold in men’s kayak slalom

Two-time world champion Jiri Prskavec (Czech Republic) took the Olympic gold medal after completing the kayak slalom course in a best time of 91.63 at Tokyo 2020 on Friday, ahead of Slovakia’s Jakub Grigar (94.85) and Germany’s Hannes Aigner (97.11).
Prskavec would have been Olympic champion in Rio if he hadn’t had one penalty deduction but made no mistake this time, completing both his semi-final and final runs in the quickest times. Heading down the course last in the final, he held his nerve to come through to win, a massive 3.22s ahead of second-placed Grigar.
The Slovakian, who came fifth in Rio, won the first-ever Olympic medal in kayak slalom for his nation, continuing his good form this year having won the last World Cup before the Games.

New Zealand's Michael Venus and Marcus Daniell have created history by winning their nation’s first Olympic Tennis medal with a 7-6 6-2 win over American's Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren in the Men’s Bronze Medal match in Tokyo on July 30.
The last time New Zealand won a medal in tennis at an Olympic Games was at Stockholm 1912 when Anthony Wilding won bronze, but he was competing for Australasia. New Zealand and Australia competed alongside each other until the 1920 Olympic Games.

There will be no 'Golden Slam' for world No.1 Novak Djokovic as the the top-ranked tennis player from Serbia was stunned in the men's tennis singles semi-finals on Friday (30 July) at Tokyo 2020, falling to No.4 seed Alexander Zverev of Germany 1-6 6-3 6-1.
Djokovic was chasing the 'Golden Slam' - winning all four majors and Olympic gold in one year - having captured the first three majors of the 2021 season. He'll now play for bronze on the weekend. His best Olympic result was previously bronze - at Beijing 2008.
Zverev will face No.12 Karen Khachanov of the ROC in the men's final after Khachanov beat Pablo Carreno Busta in the other semi.
