Nhan Dan – More than 946,000 high school seniors nationwide will take their high school graduation examinations from June 2-4.

Of the total, 854,000 are full time high school students and the remaning 92,000 are continuing education candidates.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), 40,361 exam rooms will be set up at 2,296 venues for this year’s exams. Over 142,300 teachers and educational officers have been recruited to supervise the exams and nearly 23,700 will be responsible for marking the papers.

To ensure the exams run smoothly, the MoET has established inspection teams and sent officials to some localities to supervise the preparations, supervision and marking for the exams. Local authorities are also asked to co-operate closely with related departments and agencies to ensure the best conditions for the examinations.

Full time students will be examined in six subjects, including literature, mathematics, foreign languages, chemistry, biology and geography, while continuing education students will be tested in physics instead of foreign languages.

Multiple-choice tests will be used for foreign languages, physics, chemistry and biology, and the other subjects will require an essay test.

All provinces and cities across the country have now finished preparing the facilities and other necessary conditions for the upcoming national exams.

The Kien Giang provincial Department of Education and Training announced that its education sector will provide free lodging and meals to disadvantaged students from remote, isolated and island areas who come to Rach Gia city to sit their exams. However, Phu Quoc island has estalished two examination venues on the island.

An Giang province has set up 33 exam locations to save students and teachers time and transport costs.

Examination councils in remote areas of nothern mountainous Lao Cai province will allow ethnic monority students to stay at boarding schools or residential areas near the testing venues and the provincial health sector has geared up to ensure food safety and enhance hygiene inspection during the exams.

Quang Ninh province has also set up 51 examination councils to serve more than 15,000 candidates.

Students will begin with the 150 minute literature exam tomorrow morning, followed by the one hour chemistry test in the afternoon.
