The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that China and Hong Kong (China) remained the leading destinations for Vietnamese pangasius exports. In March 2025, exports to this market exceeded 38 million USD, a 4% increase year-on-year.
However, the total export value to China and Hong Kong (China) in the first three months reached just over 105 million USD, a 6% decline compared to the same period last year.
Although March saw a slight 4% decrease in exports to the US, with revenues reaching over 29 million USD, this market still ranked as the second-largest importer of Vietnamese pangasius. Total export turnover to the market in the first quarter of 2025 reached 69 million USD, up 6% year-on-year.
Brazil continued to show strong demand for Vietnamese pangasius, especially frozen fillet products. In March, exports to Brazil reached more than 20 million USD—nearly 1.5 times higher than in the same period last year. Total exports to Brazil in the first three months exceeded 48 million USD, marking a 73% year-on-year increase.
Continuing the upward trend, pangasius exports to the European Union (EU) reached nearly 45 million USD in the first quarter, up 16% compared to the same period last year. The Netherlands remained the largest EU consumer of Vietnamese pangasius, worth 12 million USD, an 11% increase year-on-year.
Thailand ranked as Vietnam’s fourth-largest single-country market for pangasius. In March, exports to Thailand reached nearly 8 million USD, a 27% increase compared to the same period last year, bringing the total value in the first quarter to 20 million USD, up 22% year-on-year.
According to VASEP, Vietnam’s pangasius exports remained stable across major markets in the first quarter. China and the US continued to be the key export markets. Although global trade remains volatile, 2025 is expected to be a year in which Vietnam’s pangasius industry strives to reach new milestones.
