The statement was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during a conference in Hanoi on October 21 to review the organisation of the WEF ASEAN 2018, hosted by Vietnam from September 11 to 13.
The PM stressed that the WEF ASEAN 2018 has helped affirm Vietnam’s capacity in actively contributing to the development and shaping of multilateral institutions, as well as affirming its ability in proposing topics, initiatives and creativities, and, in organising the event, contributing significantly to the enhancement of Vietnam's role, position and prestige in ASEAN, the region and the world, while facilitating the implementation of the Party's policy on raising and improving the efficiency and quality of Vietnam’s multilateral external affairs.
The PM affirmed that one of the main determinants of the WEF ASEAN 2018 success was the active direction, implementation and innovative promotion for the benefit of the country, the people and the business community in hosting the event, combined with promotion of experience in organising the previous major multilateral conferences in Vietnam, especially the Vietnam APEC Year 2017, the GMS-6 and the CLV-10 Summits.
Affirming that the success and lessons learn from the WEF ASEAN 2018 would continue to create new atmosphere for international integration, opening new opportunities for the national socio-economic development, PM Phuc asked the relevant ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises to promote and enhance the spillover effect of the WEF ASEAN 2018, especially focusing on the implementation of the initiatives set by Vietnam at the event.
Taking place last month in Hanoi, the WEF ASEAN 2018 was held under the theme "ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”. The event attracted over 1,000 delegates, including seven Presidents and Prime Ministers, two Deputy PMs, 60 Ministers and over 800 leaders from large corporations. With 60 sessions, the conference discussed a range of important issues on the development and integration of ASEAN countries and the regions in the context of the fourth Industrial Revolution.
