Addressing a reception for Bill McDermott, CEO of German business software group SAP, one of the largest European software companies, in Hanoi on September 21, the PM hailed Germany as a trusted and important partner of Vietnam in Europe, affirming that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to strengthening relations with Germany and its states.
He called on German firms to invest more strongly in Vietnam, expressing his wish that the partnership between the two countries would continue to thrive extensively and effectively across all fields, especially in trade and investment cooperation.
The Vietnamese Government has begun to design new strategies and policies aimed at meeting the needs of digital transformation and the fourth Industrial Revolution, PM Phuc said, stating that Vietnam welcomes the world’s leading groups to share their experience and expertise in the areas concerned.
He called for SAP’s cooperation in governing and building smart cities in Vietnam, and facilitating digital transformation in some Vietnamese telecom businesses.

The Vietnamese Government is working with the World Economic Forum to build a Vietnam-based resource centre on information security for the ASEAN region, the leader said, asking SAP to support Vietnam and send its competent experts to join the centre.
Vietnam is willing to cooperate and wishes to receive advice from SAP in researching and proposing policy recommendations on promoting innovative startups, forming the startup market, and developing enterprises in the future, he stated.
For his part, Bill McDermott thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favorable conditions for foreign companies, including SAP, to do business in the country, while affirming that his group wishes to cooperate and contribute to creating strong transformations and creating a brighter future for Vietnam.
He stressed SAP’s commitment to collaborating and accompanying Vietnam in the development of digital areas, in addition to the fields of e-government building, reforms, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and cyber security.
