Party chief's meeting with Hanoi voters ahead 15th NA’s second session

Voters wish for early epidemic control to serve socio-economic development

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met voters in Hanoi on October 9, in the lead up to the second session of the 15th legislature.

The meeting was held directly at the Ba Dinh District Party Committee and in an online form connected with 57 bridge points in Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung districts with the participation of 769 voters.

At the meeting, voters focused on reflecting issues related to epidemic prevention and control, and health protection for the people; Party building and rectification work, and the fight against corruption and negative acts.

They also expressed their wish that the epidemic situation will be put under control to allow for the recovery of production and socio-economic development.

Many voters spoke highly of the efforts made by the Party and authorities at all levels in the fight against corruption and negative acts over the past time.

At the event

They urged the National Assembly continue to strengthen supervision, focusing on sensitive areas, such as the purchase of vaccines and medical supplies for epidemic prevention and control in the immediate future; and promote the supervisory role of the people and the press agency for this complicated war. At the same time, they expressed that there should be more effective mechanisms and policies to protect corruption whistle-blowers...

Recognising voters’ concerns, the Party chief expressed his sincere thanks for their frank and constructive opinions which covered a wide range of issues, from the functioning of the NA to Party building and the socio-economic situations.

Thanks to efforts by the whole political system and people's support and solidarity, the epidemic situation is basically under good control, he said, adding that as the pandemic remains complicated, it is necessary to continue to stay alert while political security, social order and safety must be maintained in order to gradually restore all activities to the new normal.

Regarding the upcoming second session of the 15th legislature, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the NA will issue an overall strategy from the central to local level based on scientific data to offer scenarios and solutions to the pandemic, as well as look into a master plan on post-pandemic economic, social, educational, medical and cultural recovery, etc.

He expressed his hope that voters will continue to monitor, comment, and promptly report to the Party and State on issues of public concern.
