NA Standing Committee hand over historical site to Tuyen Quang province

The National Assembly Office held a ceremony on August 15 to officially hand over the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) Historical Relic Site in Trung Yen commune, Son Duong district of the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang to the provincial administration.

The ceremony saw the presence of Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong.

Built on an area of nearly one hectare, the historical site comprises of an exhibition house featuring photographs and artifacts relating to the formation and development of Vietnam’s National Assembly from 1945 to present; and a commemorative house. Here, the NASC and President Ton Duc Thang had lived and worked from late 1952 to 1954.

Speaking at the ceremony, NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong spoke highly of efforts made by ethnic minority people in assisting and protecting the NASC during the war against foreign occupiers in the past, as well as in patriotic emulation movements and socio-economic development at present.

She emphasised that the building and preservation of the relic affirmed the responsibility of the younger generation in promoting the fine traditional values ​​of the nation.
