Politburo member and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement during a meeting with the GDT’s leaders on June 20.

According to the report given by the GDT at the meeting, as of the end of May 2019, over 22,700 tax inspections were carried out, reaching over 23% of the yearly plan, increasing revenue through inspection and examination to over VND4.045 trillion, reducing losses by over VND8.8 trillion, equivalent to 127.84% over the same period in 2018.

The taxation sector collected more than VND2.1 trillion in tax for the State budget in the first five months of this year.

Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her pleasure that the state budget collection has made positive changes. In 2018, state budget revenue exceeded the estimate of the National Assembly by 8%. In the first six months of 2019, domestic revenue was estimated at 51.2% of the yearly estimate, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%.

These are very impressive figures, particularly in the context that the taxation sector is in the process of reorganising and streamlining the apparatus, she added.

NA Chairwoman Ngan proposed that the sector focus on implementing the revised Law on Tax Management andon disseminating the tax laws. In addition, the promulgation of guiding documents and detailed regulations must be in line with the revised Law on Tax Management.
