Courts urged to improve operational efficiency in new situation

NDO – State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the People’s Courts at all levels to continue improving their operational efficiency to meet the requirements of the new situation.

The State President who is also Head of the Central Steering Committee on Judicial Reform made the request on June 7 while chairing a working session with the Party Committee of the Supreme People’s Court to discuss on the draft project on renovating the organisation of the People's Court apparatus.

The project aims to renovate the organisation of the People’s Court apparatus in the direction of operatingeffectively and efficiently to meet the requirements of the new situation in accordance with the Resolution of the 6th plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee. It is considered the first step in building a roadmap for the new judicial reform for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2045.

Accordingly, there will be two phases from now to 2022,with a focus on internal, preliminary and pilot reforms. After 2022, the legal status, activities, contents and proceedings are scheduled to be redefined.

The opinions presented at the session strongly agreed with the project and focused on proposals on the organisation of the court; a number of issues on innovation and organisational arrangement of the People’s Courts in the direction of streamlining effective and efficient operation; and new requirements set forth in the process of renovation and organisational arrangement of the People's Courts in the coming time.

Speaking at the session, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the drafting agency to continue to research and create new breakthrough proposals, thus contributing to the completion of the draft project.

In addition, it is necessary to overcome the shortcomings and limitations in the past time in terms of organisation and operation of the People's Court apparatus, contributing to building a “clean, strong, democratic, strict and safe” judicial system, he noted.
