At the meeting, the delegation of deputies for the 14th NA from Can Tho city briefed the voters on the results of the activities of the delegation at the fourth session of the 14th NA as well as the contents and agenda for the up-coming fifth session.
The voters voiced their concerns over numerous issues, including food hygiene and safety, counterfeit goods, investment in infrastructure for the construction of embankments on the Can Tho River, allowance for the elderly, people's healthcare, and policies on encouraging tourism development, among others.
Regarding the voters’ opinion on the need for a common set of criteria for eco-urbanisation, the NA Chairwoman asked the Ministry of Construction to coordinate the functional ministries to study the issue.
She also asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to pay greater attention to bringing the potential of Phong Dien into play as a famous fruit-tree and eco-tourism area.
In terms of food safety and counterfeit goods, the NA leader requested that the local authorities intensify their inspection and monitoring of violations and suggested that people become smart consumers.
Regarding the anti-corruption work, NA Chairwoman Ngan highlighted the determination of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption to fight corruption, as well as the spirit of no “banned zones” in combating corruption.
